Softening effect of a Sunday on a Tensed Mind

So, today was the first Sunday after the exams. It’s the official 2nd holiday for me after the ending of the exam s but you know, it definitely takes some time for the tensions to wear off your mind and let the peace set in. today was a such a day.

Waking up at 10 minutes past nine, I was reminded of the fact that my mommy needs to be at a designated place at or around 10 and I was expected to accompany her. I was really lazy to be at that position now and after beating around the bush for a while, I gave in and we were all set to leave. Brushing of teeth, bathing and getting ready still took a while, at last, that was a Sunday ritual and deserved its own honour!

Before getting on behind the wheels, I made sure I had mugged up the path that we have to follow, as it was the first time we would be going there and the traffic was expected to be a little more than usual. Also, not forgetting the fact that I was at a level little less than intermediate when it came to driving. Being on the road for a while that was more than what my mom had anticipated, she confirmed if I was sure of the directions to be followed. I nodded in a yes. Couldn’t shake her confidence, right? I reached safely and on time and then, it didn’t take even 10 minutes for the task to be done and officials sending us back home. I was disappointed. We did put in a heck lot of efforts and I expected a little more courtesy than that. Well, there is nothing more I could have done. We headed back home. Before reaching home, I wanted to get something to eat, as a reward for all we had done. We stopped at a shopping mall in between picked up little snack kind-of stuff and got back to the final destination, HOME. I was tired and exhausted. Yet, I knew had we not made this trip, then firstly, I would have got bored whole day and secondly, we would have regretted not making an effort for the task we wanted to get done, irrespective of the results.

Getting on the couch, we gulped down the juice we brought in and took a nap of about 15 minutes. My mom went to prepare the food, my brother was back to his tasks, and so did I. I studied a bit, preparing for another little exam to be held on 21st of this month.

About an hour later, I called for the lunch which was another Sunday ritual, the best ever combination of Rajma-Rice. These are the little things that make Sunday feel like a real, satiating relaxing time of the whole week. We couldn’t have thanked enough for the taste we are gifted every Sunday.

After lunch and little talking about everything here and there, we all , again went bavk to our rooms to continue the tasks we were at.

4:30 pm

Time for the F1 race, something my brother just won’t miss.

I came downstairs too and we had our family get together tea time again. The race ended in an hour or so, but my brother being disappointed by the results of the race, we turned the TV off before the designated time. “Time for me to workout.” I said and left the room. About 45 minutes of a little weight lifting and shaking off, I was so relaxed!

And here I am right now, concluding the whole day. Ill have a little dinner and sleep off. Regular days to come for together and the same, dynamic fun returning to the post exam life! We will keep chatting about anything and everything that matters.

Till then, See ya!

Thank you.

ANU.

Stuck in or settling in ?

Things have been pretty blank these days. Since I am an intern, the only people I am answerable to, are my seniors at work (and this transition from being in a bunch of people of the same group to working is fairly new to me). The work timings depend, on department to department, from unit to unit and within weekdays too. Currently I am at a calmer place so I do not have anything major to worry about. Things will be changing from next week, for the next 6 weeks, about which I have no idea. I’ll get clarity on the coming Tuesday. Coming back to the blank, with lesser hectic days, most of my time is spent lying on the sofa, scrolling through my favourite youtubers’ content, anything I would like to shop on and adding them to the bag and never with an intent of actually buying them. When not scrolling, I will either watch a movie or read a novel or hear them on audiobook apps. The loops never seem to end. When I realise that I have time at my hand and I have nothing to do, I go online se...

Escaping, but from whom?

It's a quite place which I always claimed will make me most productive.  And now that I am here, I occasionally get lost in my thoughts, which is basically about all the issues I am surrounded with. While at home,  I was constantly in search of emptiness, a room where no one ones what am I doing, judge whether what I am doing would actully help me make my future better, to validate the feelings I express. I used to just sleep or try to study in a room locked from inside where most of the time was spent crying till I am too exhausted to do nothing more than needed, sorting what went wrong and hiding from everyone around. I have been there before and after attempts of moving on, the things are back again , right in front of me. Everytime it happens, it leave a hollowness inside which doesn't really fills up. It gets deeper, progressively. I have been shrinking out socially and hasn't been a serious bother since the ones I have to keep with me, are with me.  The previous tim...

The Abundant Room Upstairs, No One is Allowed to enter! #1

There is an old brown dusty chair that sits in the abandoned room upstairs. I didn’t figure out who does it belongs to yet we, the family who resides here on rental basis, are forbidden for using it. Mamma says that we must not enter the room, at any cost. Yet, I trespassed this boundary yesterday, when my dearest cat went upstairs, like she usually does. I didn’t ponder upon this fact as Cookie has her favorite place to sleep upstairs. But upon her no appearing back even after opening up of its favorite food (cats are very strong at detecting smell), a doubt arose. I waited for a few more minutes and when my expectations failed too, I decided to go upstairs and check. The forbidden room was at left, so I went forward and checked the room on the right side. “Cookie” I called out. No response. I called out again, twice, yet the result was just as the first time, that is no response again. I had the bowl of cat food in my hand, whose presence would have been hard to go unnoticed, given...
