11 Hours
- Daniel Paul Singh
11 hours is the story which unfolds the journey of the protagonist, Robin when his wife, Diana gets missing and after receiving a call, he realizes that he has 11 hours to save her. The caller does not demands ransom. Instead he asks him to search for another person, named Brindha. The whole story is revolving around that.
Its in the second attempt that I finished the book. I left it in the first go when twice the authors mentions that wants to/ couldn't slap his wife. nothing could have put me off that easily. Not just this, but the first time, even his wife gave in to that happily. and says "You can still slap me" I have no clue with what in mind it has been crafted this way. Is this how subserviently we want to project women as? Also, there is a scene described in which he mistakenly imagens a women approaching him when he was to look for someone named Angel, who was supposed to be a man in this case. Shouldn't you avoid this when you are there for shopping for your own Wedding! Also with Brindha, the mention of yoga just justified as her losing weight would be good for me during the 'women on top position'. Is that all what we can make out? Hw mentions he followed Brindha to her home one day. It, definitely, should not be promoted and appreciated to follow women around, even if they are your classmate/ friends or girlfriend.
All these incidents, minor and major in the books had put in a negative state while reading.
Spoilers ahead--(I am sorry but today, I don't want to stop and pour out everything.)
I didn't know why Robin was asked to find Brindha, when the caller (naming himself LOSER) had already killed her? To drag down the story? I found the whole crime planning very complicated , yet some of you may find it intriguing but that's all up to your thoughts. Even Brindha has been described in a way to easily project that the thing that mattered her the most were the guys she was with. Describing the bad incidents she faced in her office and complaining everything to Robin when he couldn't do anything? Or the fact that she CONTINUOUSLY kept praising her potential partners !
I didn't like the way Brindha, or even Diana were projected. Even the way Robin acted at times made me questions the kind of characters the book had.
Talking about the language of the book, its easy and a smooth read. It is fairly okay at its length, nether too long nor too short. you can connect if you watch hindi movies.
That's it for today.
Thank you
ANU.
From what I read, i suppose the author tried to put in somewhat too many flavours to the story, which even I found conflicting at parts... However I agree, it might be a good read for some...
