Book Review: The Canterville Ghost(JustMyThoughts)

 The Canterville Ghost

Does it sound scary !! Like a story of a dangerous ghost scaring people to death !?  That's what the Ghost thought of himself and was proud of himself for his career untill he encounters the Otis family from America.

The story is super short and fun to read .Instead of scaring the American family to leave The Canterville Chase, (haunted by the ghost), the ghost's confidence is shattered by the family. Every trick and trap laid by the ghost fails in front of family and instead, it's the ghost who suffered .

All the attempts of the ghost fails and the Otis family presents with materialistic approach to deal with ghost's approach to scare them off .

Its ,at the end that the ghost is set free ,but how !? You will know when you read it . It's a great short story with several instants to leave you laughing .

There is an old brown dusty chair that sits in the abandoned room upstairs. I didn’t figure out who does it belongs to yet we, the family who resides here on rental basis, are forbidden for using it. Fading in, Fading Out

  I fade in and out of my thoughts. I oscillate between the thoughts snatching my attention and later, liberating me to drift back to the soothing sleep which says that nothing else matters. My thought leaves my side when my sleep drifts me away with it and I come back to my never-ceasing-to-think brain with another dream. Everyone else in the home is asleep in their own imaginatory world that belongs just, just to them. As I open my eyes, nothing is visible to me. Darkness engulfs everything. No even ones shadow is spared from it. I open the window a bit more, to let in the moonlight shining and dancing outside. It enlightens the room a bit but not all the nook and corners of it. Stepping out from the bed, I turned on a little torch and searched for mirrors (I couldn’t turn on the lights as I don’t want to break the spell casted in the moment by the night).Now, by placing the mirrors the way I want them to be , I could direct the moonlight to the place I want it to glimmer arounds...

I have the same sequence of thoughts. I think about work, what is it taking out of me and where will it take me, and during the process, I'll either end up scrolling or sleeping, expressing my mental physical tiredness. I don't know how my friends are managing this internship and taking out consistent time to study and prepare for the competitive exams and with their instagram stories revealing that they are not missing out on fun! And, about the internship- I try to finish the tasks I have been given; I try to do a little more, learn a little more, try something beyond the regular stuff till the time I am tired. I try imagining where exactly, out of the places I have been posted, would I like to be working. but till now, I have not been able to reach to a conclusion.
